Hongwen Zhang, Chairman
Dr. Zhang is a co-founder of Wedge Networks. As President & Chief Technical Officer, he is instrumental in developing Wedge’s high performance security platform. Dr. Zhang holds a Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Calgary; an M.Sc in Computer Engineering from the Institute of Computer Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Fudan University. With more than two decades of high-tech leadership experience, Dr. Zhang is a co-inventor and holder of several patents in the area of computing and networking. Prior to establishing Wedge Networks, he was a co-founder of the 24C Group Inc., which pioneered the first digital receipts infrastructure for secure electronic commerce. Dr. Zhang was previously principal of Servidium Inc., now ThoughtWorks Canada Inc., a global leader in agile development methodology. A speaker and writer on subjects of cloud, networking, and IT security issues and trends, Dr. Zhang chairs the Security Working Group and is a member of the board of directors of Open Cloud Connect, a global cloud computing consortium of leading network service providers and technology vendors.
Antonio Cano Corzo, Director
Mr. Antonio Cano Corzo has over 30 years of experience with a diverse background in business development, finance, and operations, bringing years of experience supporting companies of all sizes, from early start-ups to Fortune 500s. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer/ Chief Financial Officer and Operations Partner of Trend Forward Capital, the venture capital arm of cybersecurity leader Trend Micro Inc. Leading the fund's operations and finances while being an investment committee member. Mr. Cano is also currently a board member and director for multiple companies.
Mr. Cano's experience involves financial, Hi-Tech, services, and agro-industries, including Mexican Central bank, Compuware, and Cargill; he was also a start-up-focused advisory firm founder.
During his more than eighteen years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, Mr. Cano has run different entrepreneurial projects. He led multiple regional functions, and in a Global role, he directed Business Operations and was a member of the corporate M&A team. Derivated from this last role, Mr. Cano was also relocated to the United States to act as HR Business Partner for the largest acquisition closed by Trend Micro for securing a smooth transition and the cultural merge.
Mr. Cano received his BA/BS in accounting from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos, an MS in Finance from the Universidad del Valle de México. He had also completed several executive education programs like Harvard's: "Foundations of Private Equity and Venture Capital" and "Making Corporate Boards More Effective".
Mr. Cano is passionate about using strategic and multidisciplinary perspectives to propel innovation and entrepreneurship.
Sheikh Isa bin Khalid Al Khalifa, Director
Sheikh Isa bin Khalid Al Khalifa is the Founder and Managing Director of SeaSpring Consulting WLL, a Bahraini-based consulting company with a strategic focus on bringing leading technology solutions from various sectors (including IT, oil and gas, metals and mining and healthcare) into the GCC region. Prior to founding SeaSpring Consulting, Sheikh Isa bin Khalid Al Khalifa was a Private Equity Associate with Oasis Capital Bank in Bahrain where he raised over US$245M in paid up capital. Previous to this position, he was the Assistant Manager of Corporate Banking & Finance at Citibank. Sheikh Isa bin Khalid Al Khalifa graduated with a Master of Science in Global Financial Analysis from Bentley University, Waltham, MA.
Dr. Norman M. Betts, Director
Dr. Betts is a current member of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada, along with holding the position of Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. He is accomplished in the field of accounting and finance, with a mix of academic and public and private-sector experience. He is an expert in accounting regulations, and has extensive experience in audits, risk management, governance and oversight. He was a member of the New Brunswick Legislative Assembly from 1993 to 2003 and held three different cabinet posts, including Minister of Finance from 1999 to 2001. Prior to entering politics, Dr. Betts was Assistant Dean of the MBA Programme and an Associate Professor at the University of New Brunswick as well as a partner in the accounting firm Shannon, Betts & Buffett. Dr. Betts sits on the Boards of Directors of Tembec Inc., New Brunswick Power Corporation, several mining and mineral exploration companies, and the University of New Brunswick Pension Plan for Academic Employees. Dr. Betts received a Ph.D in Management with a concentration in accounting and finance from Queen’s University School of Business in 1992 and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick in 1978. He also holds a Fellow Chartered Accountant designation.
Rehan Huda, Director
Mr. Rehan Huda has over 25 years of experience across investment banking, entrepreneurship and corporate finance. He currently is the Chief Executive Officer of Green Sky Labs Inc. , a technology incubation company focused on leading edge technologies in healthcare and related sectors. Mr. Huda helped structure and fund both private and public companies in the areas of biotechnology, education and information technology. His work included board of director and advisory board positions in these companies as well as raising funds and corporate development. He began his career at the Canadian federal government and is a recipient of the government’s Public Service Award of Excellence. Mr. Huda has been a speaker at a number of international conferences on finance and management and has been a guest lecturer at a number of universities in Canada and internationally.
Mark Floyd, Advisor
Mr. Floyd is a venture partner with TDF Ventures and is currently an advisor to Wedge Networks. Most recently, Mr. Floyd served as Chief Executive Officer of Cyan, Inc., from May 2012 until the acquisition by Ciena in August of 2015. He was also on Cyan’s board of directors since October 2008 and was appointed chairman of the board of directors in November 2011. Prior to joining Cyan, Mr. Floyd served as Chief Executive Officer of SafeNet, Inc., a data security company, from July 2009 to July 2011. From May 2008 to June 2009, Mr. Floyd served as a venture partner at Sevin Rosen Ventures, and from March 2007 to March 2008 served in the same capacity at El Dorado Ventures, each of which is a venture capital firm. Previously, Mr. Floyd served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Entrisphere, Inc., a telecommunications equipment company, from August 2002 until its acquisition by Ericsson, Inc. in February 2007. Mr. Floyd currently serves as a director of Riverbed Technology Corporation, an information technology performance company, and previously served as a director of Tekelec, Inc., a network applications company, from October 2004 to May 2011 and Carrier Access Corporation, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, from June 2001 to March 2008. Mr. Floyd holds a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Texas.
